Today's daily writing tip is a Misused Words Series to help out writers and anyone else out there who needs help with words that spelled similar but mean totally different things. Today, the words are AFFECT and EFFECT.

The word AFFECT is a verb that means "to influence", while EFFECT is a noun that means "result". It's very easy to confuse these two words, so hopefully this little post will help you to understand the difference between them and next time you'll be able to differentiate them. 

Even if you're just moonlighting as a freelance writer, or using it as your main source of income, this most difficult of freelancing careers demands discipline, a strict schedule, and really focusing on your work.


Create a professional work environment. Knowing and communicating with other writers not only helps your writing, it helps your state of mind as well. Being able to connect to others who write helps your self-esteem, your work flow and also creating an important support system. There are many freelance writing forums out there, including WAHM.com,freelancewriting.com, freelanceforum.org, writersweekly.com, absolutewrite.com, and freelancewriterguide.com.
